about

"Go Tell It To A Wall sees a development in SARN’s sound. It’s very much a continuation of the previous EP, but you can feel the “weird” that was asked of John Vanderslice in certain places...The clear stand out track on the EP, however, comes in the form of Candles Out. It’s the KIT of the second EP, but with a greater compassion towards lyrics and feeling. Where in many of SARN’s tracks the lyrcis hold their own, here the harmonies and melody really do them justice. It’s a haunting track, organ pads and all, but it’s beautiful. Really beautiful...8/10."

"'Just keep yourself from speaking/There’s a reason I keep walking on' Sarn’s voice sounds so sincere and sweet, but he is not fucking around - he really has no interest in anything you have to say. I dig it."

Track Name: Legions of Preteens
We can make them fall in our direction, right?
We can make them fall in line
Have them marching in time

The kids are bored as hell and we can see it in their eyes, they're fucking high
They're drinking pop, singing songs about God knows what
But it all makes sense, we can foster them, in time

We can make them fall in
We can make them fall in our direction, right?
We can make them fall in line
Have them marching in time

We've seen legions of preteens
Rebel for reasons they don't believe in

We know they're smart
We've got the drugs
We've got the games
We've got the things that they want

And the sickest part
We're gonna use them for our gain
With no regard for what they say
Or what they want
Track Name: The Concierge
Did you get to take a walk outside?
See the banners and the foreign signs
All the people walking on their hands
And I danced, I danced

It's enough to make a modern man
Reassess his business plan
Trade in all of his stocks and bonds
And live off of the land

We could've ended up anywhere
Plane crash while stalled mid-air
Shipwrecked on the ocean floor
While on a whale tour

Thank god for the concierge
Coffee and cushioned chairs
All the books that I've never read
And that we're not dead

And as we made our way back home
We took our time, we took it slow
We weren't concerned with the western world
We weren't sure that we'd return

And as we made our way back home
We took our time, we took it slow
Track Name: Candles Out
Heard you say you're done with love now
Gonna wait until your heart can take the pain
Gonna take some time to think it over, let it fade away before you settle down again

Darling don't waste no time, pay no mind, it will haunt you
It's understood, love can hurt when it don't work, it is meant to

Seen you at the store this evening
Walking past the aisles like a ghost
Your hair was a mess, girl you need some rest
Hope you got yourself right home

Darling don't waste no time, pay no mind, it will haunt you
It's understood, love can hurt when it don't work, it is meant to

Your past reads like a novel in a sense
When you're feeling stable, an unfortunate event
Put's the candles out, fills you with doubt
Sends you running, spinning around

Darling don't waste no time, pay no mind, it will haunt you
It's understood, love can hurt when it don't work, it is meant to
Track Name: Go Tell It To A Wall
Please just stop yourself from rambling
I don't care about your weekend fling
Or the veggies in your garden
That's none of my concern

Just keep yourself from speaking
There's a reason I keep walking on
Some people wanna talk and talk and talk
Oh son

Go tell it to a wall

Chances are I'm lying
Feigning interest in your thoughts on haute design
Is there more to the story?
Like a car slamming into your home in the middle of the night
Otherwise...

Go tell it to a wall

Do you process the words I say?
Notice I never ask about your day?
Do you process the words I say?
Or do they get lost on the way to your brain?

Go tell it to a wall
Go tell it to a wall
Go tell it to your ma
Go tell it to the postman, reverend, the emperor of Japan

Go tell it to a wall
Track Name: Tiny Feelings
All your tiny feelings getting mixed up in your head and now it's aching
All this rotten business on your brain
Just keep it cool and keep it calm and I'll help to protect you from the places
All the people that you know

There's a light
There's a ghost
You're in a tunnel
You're in the heart, stuck there in the middle

You think too hard and look too deep into the things that they just keep on saying
You're letting them get in on all your nerves
Shut it out and let them win, we're not here to fight about decisions
We made long, long, long, long time ago

There's a light
There's a ghost
You're in a tunnel
You're in the heart, stuck there in the middle

Listening, listening to old crows

Your brittle spine, misaligned and growing worse
The calcium sucked dry from your bones
Your skinny limbs, useless cuz they don't work
This is when, this is when you go home

All your tiny feelings getting mixed up in your head and now it's aching
All this rotten business on your brain
Track Name: The North Wind
The north wind
Came whistling
And it woke us up

I put on my jacket
Said, "I'll check it out"

I grabbed my lantern and my hat
Said, "Betty, hold tight til I come back"

Outside
It was wet as hell
The thunderstorm
Ripped our sails

I reached for
The railing
But a sudden shift
Threw me from the ship

And I could not be found

Listen, don't be sad
I'm just missin'
I ain't dead
